Today’s Answer of the day is brought to you by @keepontryin who did some research to find whether males or females had more tattoos.

The studies and polls that I found indicate that tattoos are basically equal when it comes to gender distribution. This represents a large change over the past few decades, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see women passing men in incidence of tattoos in the future, based on the short amount of time it took them to catch up and the different reasons that males and females seem to have for getting tattoos.

Here are a few of the sources I located:

1. In a study of 400 college students, 25% of men and 28% of women reported having a tattoo.

2. A scholarly study stating that the genders are equally represented is found in “Journal of American Academy of Dermatology” September 2006

3. Harris poll# 58, October 8, 2003: equal (16% of all adult males, 15% of all adult females)
