Many retail stores offer sales and deals on Veteran’s Day to attract people who may be inclined to shop if they have the day off from work. While this is nice for bargain hunters, it doesn’t do much to honor those that have served our country.

This year, a number of restaurants and retailers are offering specials to veterans and active duty members of the military on November 11, 2009. Here’s a run down of a few of them:

  • Start your day at Krispy Kreme, and enjoy a free donut.
  • Veterans in need can pick up a free walking cane at Sam’s Club.
  • The Outback Steakhouse is offering a FREE Bloomin Onion and drink.
  • After enjoying your appetizer at Outback, head over to Applebee’s, where veterans can enjoy their choice of one of six entrees free.
  • Veterans can also select a free entree from the Texas 2′Fers menu at some Texas Roadhouse locations from 4-10pm.
  • If you’re dining with a friend, you can enjoy Uno’s buy one get one free offer, valid only for veterans and active duty military.
  • Not all special offers are limited to November 11. Golden Corral is offer a free entree to veterans and active duty military from 5-9 on November 16. New England veterans can take advantage of Acton Chiropractic’s offer of one year of free chiropractic care to all veterans returning from Iraq or Afghanistan.
